Below is a video which I recorded of Tom practicing on the back foot against a bowling machine. The machine is set up at about 60mph from a right arm over the wicket position. Tom generally plays with nice soft hands and is looking to improve off the back foot by getting right in behind the ball and into a side on position.
Tom is very strong off the front foot as he presents the full face of the bat and has a nice free flowing swing. He could move his feet a little more and bend his front knee to get his head right over the ball on impact. This would also help him generate more power without having to swing harder. Tom has really improved at opening up his front foot as you can see in the video below. This gives him more access to ball to play with a vertical bat through the on side.
